”If you've got something to say to me, then step right up!”
― Waluigi

Waluigi is a fictional character who serves as an anti-hero and occasional antagonist in Nintendo's Super Mario franchise of video games. He is a tall, skinny and bitter man who serves as Wario's partner and Luigi's rival.

Role in Super Mario 64 Machinima[]

Despite never appearing in Super Mario 64 or the Nintendo DS remake, Waluigi is a recurring character in Super Mario 64 Machinima. Often he is portrayed either as a palette swap of Mario, with his own customized 3D model or by green screen footage of his Mario Party 3 appearance.

Trivia[]

A fan-made Waluigi model for Super Mario 64.

  • Waluigi's name is a combination of Luigi's Japanese name, Ruiji, and the Japanese word warui, meaning "bad". Nintendo breifly entertained the idea of creating similar counterparts to Princess Peach and Princess Daisy, but decided against it.
  • While Waluigi didn’t appear in Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door and Super Mario Odyssey, Mario can don his outfit in these games after unlocking the correct items.
  • Waluigi was once rumored to be unlockable in Super Mario 64's DS remake in various ways (via the Black Box sequence, a purple rabbit, etc.) but it was confirmed as false due to Waluigi not being in the code of the game, along with the purple rabbit which was originally intended to be in game but cut out from the final product.
