Bowser in the Sky is the final stage of Super Mario 64 and Super Mario 64 DS. The level itself consists of several platforms floating in the sky with dark clouds in the background and guarded by several members of the Koopa Troop. At the end of the stage is a Warp Pipe that takes Mario to an arena with Bowser. Defeating the Koopa King grants Mario the Jumbo Star, which is required to free Princess Peach.
Role in Super Mario 64 Machinima
Bowser in the Sky is often used in SM64 Machinima, usually as Bowser’s personal domain or the sight of various battles. Retextured versions of the stage tend to also be used for these battles.
- The German name for the stage is Bowser’s Sky Castle, which indicates that the stage is based around Bowser’s Castle. The Chinese name, Bowser of the Sky City, also indicates the stage is a floating city.
- Engravings of Goombas and Koopa Troopa shells can be seen on some platforms. Likewise, the pillars near the Warp Pipe depicts a battle between Mario and Bowser, based on their sprites from Super Mario Bros.
